[...] Another great conference put on by ACTEM. They are one of the most organized groups around. The keynote by given by Will Richardson. I had never seen him present before and I was not disappointed. I [...]
Thank you for making Will Richardson’s keynote presentation available for all. This was an eye opening presentation for me and has inspired me to take the leap and try new technologies in my classroom. I’ll be sending my principal this way- it’s all info she needs to hear too. I’ve read his book, now I’m heading to his website…
Thanks again, Kate for your amazing workshop! I’ll have the podcast posted here soon!
Bob
Wow, thanks for continuing to be one of my BEST sources for professional development and learning, Bob! Will shared a great session for you all in Maine. I’ve heard him many times and this was one of the best talks he’s given, I think because he was so transparent in his struggles with the changes he is NOT seeing in his own kids’ schools. I am with him in wanting my own students to be able to create podcasts like Radio WillowWeb, instead of sending home masses of papers like they do every week in “Friday Folders.” I’m sick of the piles of worksheets. Our schools are considered “good” my the public, but that is not because they are innovative, emphasize the arts or creativity, or promote digital literacy. I think people consider our schools good because mostly high SES students attend whose parents read to them growing up, and they are going to “do well” in any school… the learning is so traditional…. Lots of assignments where all the kids are doing the same thing, creating a “final product” which looks identical to their neighbor’s product.
Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this. This made my day.
